, a growing Heavy Civil Construction Company that promotes a team culture and takes care of their People as their first core value, is seeking a motivated individual with an interest in Heavy-Civil construction-related estimating to join our growing Bridge/Dam/Marine Division located in Norfolk, MA.
This Estimator will perform a variety of tasks, allowing the company to take advantage of competitive bidding opportunities in the New England area.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties include:
Work with the Estimating Team to prepare bids for a variety of clients/owners.
Review bid documents to determine scope of work.
Procure subcontractor/supplier quotes, perform scope development and pricing comparisons.
Use the project plans and documents to perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
Determine means/methods, crews, and productions for pricing.
Utilize takeoff and bidding software effectively.
Participate and present during estimate review meetings.
Attend pre-bid, on-site meetings or visit potential job sites in the field.
Visit active projects under contract to report on production or status.
Participate in project startup and assist with select engineering duties to gain business knowledge.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering Prior co-op/internship or 2 years field/estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
Experience with HCSS Software preferred, but not required.
Required Skills:
Ability to interpret plans and specifications.
Strong computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Outlook suite of programs.
Attention to detail, organizational skills, prioritization, and critical thinking.
Capable of working individually or as a part of a team.
Ability to work on multiple projects at a time.
